Hybrid Cages - Overview of Features

Strength & Durability

Corner View

During the process of designing our enclosures, we took elaborate steps to make sure our cages are strong enough to withstand substantial forces. This may be from a human outside the cage or a large aggressive animal inside the cage.

Our cages consist of very thick aluminum that is hardened and anodized to resist denting and scratching. We also designed all of the front, back, and side panels out of the best materials. Our acrylic is 5x stronger than glass and crystal clear. The stainless steel panels we use are very decorative and are washable as well as scratch and odor resistant. Also see the "Overview of Cage Materials" section for details.

Perhaps the most revolutionary part of our cage system are the corner joints and draw wedge system shown to the right. This is our own invention for this specific application. These parts are also designed to withstand an extraordinary amount of force without breaking and are designed for easy, secure assembly and dissassembly. To ensure this, we hired the best engineers to run a series of computer generated test, each time refining the part to make it stronger. We also searched thoroughly for the strongest material we could find for this application, a fiberglass reinforced nylon composite. The end result is the strongest cage system of its kind. We continually strive to perfect our system. There is not a single part in our cage system we have not revised and re-engineered to perfection, some parts 5 or more times! We will stop at nothing to create the ultimate enclosure system.

Easy Assembly

Fully assembled cage

Same cage disassembled

All of our enclosures require assembly once you recieve the cage, and the vast majority of our customers tell us it is not difficult. The cage comes with an allen wrench to secure the frame members of the cage together. The only other tool required is a #1 phillips head screw driver. For some larger units we recommend 2 or more people for assembly to help manage the large frame or panel members. A moderate skill level is required for assembly. If you find assembly challenging in general, you may want to ask a friend who is more mechanically inclinded for help. We also have live support available during business hours to help you through any problems you may have.

We have learned through our own experience, as well as through our customers, how difficult it can be to get enclosures as large as ours into your home and put together. This is why all of our enclosures break down for easy transportation and mobility. This also allows us to use much less expensive shipping methods than other companies, meaning the money you are spending is going towards better cage materials, not packaging and shipping charges that come companies cleverly hide by including in the price of the cage.

Any of our enclosures (even the large ones) break down to fit in boxes small enough to go up a set of stairs, around narrow hallway corners, and fit in the back seat of a pickup truck or reasonably sized car. When you are moving your enclosure, there is no need to buy a new one. Our enclosures can all be taken apart and reassembled many times. We have even sold very large cages similar to the one pictured on the right to a traveling circus that takes down and puts back together the cages three times a week! This is a feature very few other enclosures offer and can save you the cost of purchasing an entirely new cage down the road. Because of the way our system is designed, in a rare circumstance if a panel were to be damaged it could easily be replaced without having to replace the entire cage.

Expandability

One of the most frustrating aspects of setting up an enclosure is determining how large an enclosure you need. When you are shopping for the enclosure, it may be a juvenile that is only several inches long and has the potential to grow several feet - and they grow quick! This is particularly true with reptiles. Many people are not comfortable investing the amount of money it takes to care for an adult when the animal is only a juvenile, so they end up buying several enclosures throughout the life of the animal, each time throwing one to the curb. With our enclosures you can purchase the size that is appropriate now, and add on later! Another advantage to this is if your collection grows or changes, you can modify the size without wasting your original purchase. This is a very useful feature for zoo's, museums, or pet stores where you may have different types of animals come and go on a regular basis. We have sizes as large as your imagination! A system like ours is not available anywhere else!

Stackable

Our cage system is completely stackable and does not require you to purchase expensive racking equipment. Our corner joint system has pin slots molded into them that easily locks multiple enclosures together. This also allows hoods and bases to be interchangeable with the entire cage system. This same pin slot system can be used to install casters so your cage can be moved easily. If external lighting is desired with a multiple cage system, simply separate the cages with a hood (as shown) and you will have plenty of room to put your lighting and heating fixtures while having the lights nicely concealed at the same time. Perfect for a pet store, breeder, or zoo display.

Security

Security was a top priority when designing our cage system. Our frame design and locking system address this issue thoroughly. First, the outer handles of the cage interlock securely with the outside frame of the cage making it nearly impossible for anything to escape. We also invented a revolutionary locking system for the middle of the doors that pin them together. This feature makes it nearly impossible to slither or nudge between the doors, or to slide them open when properly locked. The lock is keyed and is placed outside the acrylic doors, meaning your pet does not have access to the locking mechanism (intelligent birds will not have a way to finesse the lock open). This also comes in handy for public applications like pet stores, zoos, or museums where keeping people out is as important as keeping animals in.

Versatility & Options

In addition to all the standard features that come with every cage, there are a wide variety of options (use our "Cage Price Configurator" for a step by step guide to configuring your cage). Below is an overview of just some of the options we have available:

Panel Material

In the left menu we have listed a number of cage specials. These are the setups we thought to be the most typical for each given application. However, you are not limited to these setups. Any front door, back, side, top, or bottom panel can be substituted for glass, Plexiglas, stainless steel wire, or thermo fused laminate (see the "Overview of Cage Materials" section for details). Not only can any of these materials be used, but also they can be substituted at a later date as your needs change. For example, a bird cage could easily become an iguana cage, or vice versa. A cage with a laminate top could have a wire top substituted without replacing the frame of the cage to accommodate a hood. A reptile cage with a laminate bottom could have a wire bottom put in to allow for a pull out tray. A stand or a hood can easily become a cage because they both use the same track and frame system. The possibilities are endless!

Selection

Our cage line has the best selection of any system available. We have 6 standard colors and wood grains (see the "Overview of Cage Materials" section for details) and over 40 custom background images available (see the "Backgrounds" section for details). We also have nearly the largest range of stock sizes possible. There are practically no sizes we cannot make. Please use the "Cage Price Configurator" to easily step through configuring your cage dimensions and quickly get a price quote.

Custom Options & Installation

We also offer a full range of custom options for any cage that we install per order. We will custom tailor your setup to have the proper lighting, heating, or furniture arrangement to your liking. We understand that every environment has different needs and we will work with you to create the perfect habitat.
